Properties low relative to running water behave differently to properties on a ridge, and an old borough slab in a valley like this has been managing ground water for a very long time. We measure before we specify, and occasionally the honest answer is that drainage needs sorting first.
Above ground it is a straightforward older borough. Small detached garages, workshops, and a lot of exterior concrete on the front of these houses, steps up from the pavement, stoops and short paths, that takes the full winter and is inexpensive to protect while it is still in one piece.

What two days on site looks like
Day one starts with clearing and masking, then grinding. The machines run with extraction attached, which keeps the mess to something reasonable and keeps silica dust out of the air. We work the slab until it is uniformly open rather than until it looks clean.
Still on day one, the repairs go in and the base coat goes down, and the flake is broadcast into it by hand wall to wall until the surface is saturated. Doing that inside the working time of the base is why it takes two people rather than one.
Day two is the scrape back, the vacuum and the topcoat. Scraping is what converts a rough chip surface into an even one, and skipping it is why some flake floors feel like sandpaper underfoot. Then the polyaspartic seals everything in and the floor is finished.

Where the damage shows up first
Deterioration is not evenly distributed, and the order tells you how far along a property is. Step nosings go first, because a step edge has concrete exposed on two faces with water sitting right at the corner.
Then the garage door threshold, for the salt reasons. Then the tyre tracks inside the garage where salt water drips concentrate. Then the general slab surface, usually starting near a downspout or anywhere water sits rather than runs off.
Five minutes outside will tell you where you are. Run a hand across the surface, and if it feels sandy or leaves grey dust on your palm, the paste is already breaking down and water is getting in.

My basement gets damp. Can it still be coated?
Usually yes, but we test the slab first. Water moving up through concrete as vapour is the most common cause of a basement coating lifting, so we measure it rather than guess. A high reading means a moisture tolerant primer goes down first. A very high reading means we tell you the drainage needs solving before a coating makes sense.
Does the freeze and thaw damage coated concrete too?
Not the way it damages bare concrete. The mechanism is water soaking into the pore structure, freezing overnight, expanding and pushing the surface apart from the inside. A sealed surface does not let the water in, so the cycle has nothing to work on. Untreated concrete next to it keeps pitting every year.
How long does a basement floor take?
Two days for most basements, the same as a garage, though a room with a lot of obstructions takes longer because the cut in work around posts, pits and stairs is all done by hand. You will want to keep off it overnight between the coats.
My concrete is in rough shape. Is it too far gone?
Almost certainly not. Surface damage, pitting, spalling and cracking are all normal repair work and they get sorted as part of the job. The one case where we will tell you to stop is structural movement, a slab that has heaved or dropped at a corner, because a coating sits on top of that problem rather than solving it.

Less than you would expect. The grinders run with dust extraction attached throughout, which captures the great majority of it at source. That is a health matter before it is a housekeeping one, because silica dust off concrete is a real exposure issue, and it is also why we are not filling the rest of your house with grey powder.
How many people will be here?
Usually two or three depending on the size of the floor. The flake broadcast in particular is a two person job, because the chip has to go in across the whole area inside the working time of the base coat. On a large commercial floor there will be more, and Justyn is on site for all of it.
